After a half million in site work adding a new mid-block street at South Virginia and Thoma, the first permits for the “Sticks” AKA Carterville project have finally been issued.  BLD12-05567 calls for a calls for a 2 story 2616 SF restaurant and greenhouse project (1999 restaurant, 617 greenhouse) at “760 South Virginia”.  BLD12-05568 calls for a 2216 SF single story restaurant at “764 South Virginia”.  The permit process looks to have been a bit stormy but everything is a go now.  (Go to the Virtual Permit Place, click “Building”, and enter the permit number.  Click the black triangles to expand things.)  I’m really pleased this one is finally turning dirt, but not sold on the Sticks name yet for this one (the domains for sticksreno, sticksmidtown, renosticks, and midtownsticks have all been reserved, so not sure what the branding will be).  The architectural renderings floating around out there are truly outstanding.

–  Speaking of Carterville, the sale of the downtown Post Office finally recorded at the end of August, 2 months behind schedule.  “Environmental” issues were evidently holding up the closing.  The recorded transfer document is pretty interesting.  The final development time-line is revealed (day for day delay for every day the Virginia Street Bridge is under construction), and the USPS historic study is attached as an exhibit and finally public.  It’s a big file, but click HERE if your are interested in reading the details.
