An interesting item showed up on the addenda to the Reno City Council’ agenda for Wednesday:

L.5 Discussion and potential direction to staff regarding the Mill Street Alignment between Center and Lake Streets.

This would be the block of Mill Street that Reno abandoned to the developers of the Siena Hotel Spa Casino back in 2001.  The scope of development planned for this right of way and the adjacent parking lot is spelled out in the Abandonment Document, referencing the Planning Department approval of case LDC 01-00332.  Since the project was never completed as approved, and the required approval of revisions to the approved plans never obtained, it looks like Reno is exploring taking back this block of Mill Street and returning it to use as a public street.  Should be an interesting meeting.  No word on how this development might affect the Siena auction scheduled for earlier the same day.
