So the owners of CommRow plan to rename and re-market the property. “Altitude” has been the widely circulated proposed new monicker, but that is being rethought.
So what would you coin this beast to best position it in our market? Any reference to the old Fitz is taboo based on the sales contract, and Fernando’s Folly is already taken. Ignoramus Inn? Bantering Bear Berths? Go crazy, folks!

“The Chameleon Club” – what will it look like tomorrow?
or, for a potential real name: “The Arch” Hotel +/- Casino

Chameleon is actually a really compelling name. It alludes a bit to climbing, the ability to change, and has a little bit of the What Happens in Reno vibe. Reno Arch Hotel is BANK. What else do you need to say to describe the location, and “arch” can also connote a slightly evil side. Biggest Little Hotel? The domain is still available.

I really like “the fart box”, though.

So they end up naming it after Mt. Whitney. As if there is in anybody’s mind the slightest connection between downtown Reno and Mt. Whitney.
Man, this places really is hexed. I don’t know if it’s the spirit of Lincoln Fitzgerald casting a bad spell on it or what, but this property seems to be perpetually doomed.

That’s a preposterous name. We are half a state away from Mt. Whitney, and as Lear said, there is absolutely no connection. If they want to name the hotel after far away mountains, Denali and Everest are bigger and catchier. But seriously, they are AT the Arch. They made the arch the backdrop of their new website. Why not just name it the Arch?
